Laurana Rayne

Laurana Rayne is a professional home economist with particular interest in writing, and in a style of living she calls intentional simplicity. Working on the comfort food project has given her an opportunity to explore the concept of simplicity as it relates to food, and her style is present in the Comfort Food Cookbooks.

Laurana also embarked on a new adventure - that of publisher - when the initial avenue of publication for these books fell through. Using funds from the sale of her home, she started her business, Hummingbird Wings, to print and distribute the books. "How could I do otherwise?" she says. "So many people had put their energy into this project that I just felt these books had to make their way into the world."

Laurana has a strong belief in the importance of making a contribution to life on this planet. The Comfort Food Cookbooks, Hummingbird Wings, and intentional simplicity are all aspects of that. She lives in Calgary, Canada and continues her writing and teaching on these subjects.
